Happy New Year Everyone!

Well as we blast into the new year, we have lots of projects on the go and lots of changes (all for the better coming). One thing you can expect to see is new, updated content on our website. We never seem to spend enough time on our website. The first step will be replacing content. The second step will be creating a new look / design. The challenge for us and many of our own clients is getting great listings in the search engines. Its a lot of work and in 2010 we plan to offer up some really cool services for clients who ARE REALLY SERIOUS about generating traffic. And getting new business.

Firstly, I have to tell you about some cool success stories. Recently (okay, this morning) an Oil and Gas client advised us that he was getting alot of new business via Calgary based oil companies searching for keywords on Google. We had created a custom AdWords campaign as well as optimized his website. This made a difference and now his site is generating tangible evidence that the SEO process works.

A second success story is a company that we built a website for and started marketing. This company was looking for more business in Canada and the US. As a result of the website we developed, the CEO advised that he is getting business now from Korea and the US. And we have only just begun.

The common thread with these two success stories is this: They both are innovators, see the value in web marketing and are using Google Tools to help them promote. Not only do we use Google Analytics but we specialize in setting up the site and interpreting the results. That is the KEY TO SUCCESS. Google reports are great....but do you have the knowledge to make changes based on the numbers?

NEW SERVICE - We spend many hours reviewing sites (our own, clients and others on the web). Over the past 20 years on the Web, we have taken courses and training on how to make a website more successful. A new product / service that we are offering this year is our WEBSITE REVIEW. This service will provide an INDEPTH, DETAILED REVIEW of your website. We will look at the Design / Layout, Navigation & Menus, Search Engine Optimization, Calls To Action, Content review and more! We will provide a list of Competitor Keywords and Analysis, Traffic Building Recommendations, our special Marketing Insider Report as well as a 1 year subscription of our Eldoren Monthly Newsletter (monthly advice on marketing online). The price for this service will be $375. We could make it cheaper but we feel that the information that we will provide you will be worth at least 4-5 times that in traffic and business.

I want to mention that alot of people want to make money, land new business and make their websites work. But the reality is that you need an outsider who has the experience. I have worked in marketing since 1983 and developed web pages since they first came out. An I an expert? No. But with 20+ years under my belt, numerous awards for Marketing and a client list from all over the US and Canada, I know what it takes. Another consideraton - I get hired by companies ranging from Mom and Pop size to Fortune 500 companies. I work with them and make alot of money providing them with advice. Advice I can share with my clients at much lower costs.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the delay in updates...this past 6 weeks we have:

Needless to say, we are ending 2009 on a busy note. As we move into 2010 we will be expanding our operations and I expect a new website to come in the very new year. 2010 will also be ayear in which we launch new services. I expect over holidays to add content to our website outlining the positive changes. We also want to make 2010 a year in which we do more for our clients and increase the level of customer service.

Just a quick announcement - Eldoren Consulting Inc has always had our own merchant VISA and Mastercard. We can accept payments for pretty much anything as it relates to our products and services. For example, you can pay for Web Hosting, Web Site Deposits / Balances, SEO services and packages, customized web site reviews, advice and many other items.

This week we are setting up our own SECURE Server that will allow people to make payments online in a secure, insured ($100,000) webpage that is encrypted. To take it one step further, we use military grade encryption so your Credit Card information is NEVER seen or available in an email or on the Internet. In fact, its stronger than most banks, and hundreds of times safer than providing a credit card over the phone or ata restaurant. Once in place, we will post the URL online for payments!

Why are we all of a sudden accepting credit cards online? Many clients collect points for purchases and we can accommodate these clients. Using your redit card also buys you some time and offers a variety of record keeping advantages and guarantees.

Major Update to the website!

Holy smokes, thinsg have been rockin' this past month plus. Our graphics department has been cranking out creative band posters, posters for the upcoming Terror In The Village Halloween event (poster donated by the Dark Prince of Eldoren!). We have also been working on Marketing Plans for 3 najor businesses and created about 6 websites since our last update.

Over the past 10+ years, Eldoren Consulting has offered customized SEARCH ENGINE MARKETING services as well as OPTIMIZATION. We normally provided this to existing clients but have decided to make it a stand alone product / service.

I want to mention there are literally MILLIONS of people claiming to offer Search Engine Optimization Services (SEO). The scary part is about 80% are bogus and simply take your money. The other 20% are legit but NO ONE can guarantee where you will end up in the search engines. What we can do is provide tips, techniques and advice on how to best optimize your site for the current rules.

Over the past 15+ years, I have reviewed almost every single website locally in the Peace Country. And I can tell you that 96% of them are NOT setup properly. In fact feel free to email me a URL of a local business site and I can spot at least 4-5 ways they can improve their listings.

So what OPTIONS do we OFFER?

So what package is best for you? I recommend all clients meet to discuss this service and provide me with a dmain name that I can look at. I can then email them back with a quote and recommended plan.

CASE STUDY - Approximately 19 months ago, my company was hired to assist a local business who had created an online business and needed help getting products sold. We are protecting her identity at her request. But she has allowed me to share certain aspects of the success we had.

We reviewed her website and spent 1 hour speaking with her about her business and products. During the site review we noticed 6 critical mistakes in the web code that hammpered her ever getting good listings, particularly with Google and MSN. We also placed some website analysis on the site for about 2 weeks after making the changes to her site. Traffic improved but we also spied a few pages that simply didn't keep potential clients engaged. Many where leaving on this particular page. So we ramped up our useability review and provided 9 suggestions on how to make the site convert more clientsto buying her product.

In the first 6 months, we increased her traffic by close to 600%. Her listings in Google took off. And best of all, we did this without an ad campaign. Simply suggesting changes, optimizing the site and offering professional ADVICE was all it took. In addition to the traffic, her sales took off and particularly from the US, a market she had not considered initially ( a big mistake ).

The best part of the entire experience so far (she is still a happy client) was the fact that good design, great coding helped but the real magic came in getting the RIGHT TRAFFIC to come. We didn't expect to get what we got but the reality is we are looking for quality traffic that is highly targetted and will provide sales of the product. Now, getting these happy clients to tell others....that a tough one. Everyone wants to help their friends and family but many want to keep all the new business to themselves!

Well, school is back in and we finished off an extremely busy summer. Weather is still warm but the mornings are cooling off. Time to cocoon in our basement office! Over the past 3 weeks we were happy to develop a number of custom identities for clients. We also did some pro-bono work for friends and created some custom business cards (example below).

We expect to launch 4 news sites in the next 10 days for a very successful Oil and Gas business, a large First Aid / Security firm as well as two smaller retail businesses. ALso working on a Golf Course website as well.

New Services coming include IT based services for those running computers and networks. Many of our clients in small business require assistance in managing computers but they tend not to be able to afford expensive solutions that cost an arm and a leg. So we have partners with a couple of new businesses and will be announcing a lineup of IT based services and help desk type services in the coming weeks. Watch our website for details.

This past month has been incredible in terms of new clients and projects. We really are starting to work with many more companies looking for marketing services that covers web design, graphics and other services. A number of conferences are coming this fall to Dawson Creek and surrounding area. We are pleased to be working on their websites and custom online registrations (including e-commerce services).

This past month has also allowed us to partner on additional projects with the consultants at Footprint Management Systems. Other partnerships with Digital West and some US companies continue to flourish.

Hey, we recently attended the Summer Cruise Car Showin Dawson Creek and had a blast checking out the cars from all over BC and Alberta. After shooting close to 400 pictures of cars, I went back and took pictures of car emblems and then assembled this cool collage. Emblems ranging from Hemi's to Mach 1's, I was able to represent about 90% of the makes and models.

This poster is available for purchase (a limited run of 100 is being printed) for $65 CDN. Our cost is about half the retail and the difference goes to my daughters education fund. Call me to order at 1-877-784-8383

Hmmm....almost 4 months since my last update. Ridiculous. Oh well...moving on. This past few months we launched a number of new sites and have many new ones in development. They range from conference sites to the food and beverage industry. Also been busy updating the regular client sites.

One thing that is becoming very apparent is we have really nailed down our Primary Service Offering. It includes Graphic Design, Web Design & Development and Marketing Consulting. We are back working with a number of US clients as well as Canadian.

Our Secondary Services include Photography & Custom Photo Editing, Corporate Logo Design and Branding, and Advanced Digital Imaging. We also do alot of work with clients using Facebook and other Social Media.

Few clients seem to know that we develop corporate logos for clients all over North America and have quite a few under our belt. We also work with a variety of clients providing advanced digital imaging services. With over 15+ years experience daily with Adobe Photoshop, there isn't alot we can do.

On a more personal note, I have recently linked my Facebook site and Twitter site to our company site. Hey, there going to find me somehow (thanks Google!). There you can get a better idea what sort of weird stuff I am into and all the hobbies I enjoy. As I get older my creative pursuits continue to grow. Painting watercolors as well as Acrylics keeps what spare time I have going full bore!

From a technical development perspective, our team and myself have focused alot on newer technologies including advanced PHP, Actionscript and JQuery. We also build Content Management (CMS) Sites in Mambo, Joomla and about 4 other software platforms. The only caveat I share with clients is that in many cases, you are severely limited on design choices. I can look at almost any CMS site and show you hundreds of others that look exactly the same. The other issue I am finding is that many sites based on open source software utilize modules and plugins that look and work real cool. But they are EASILY hacked and you can loose data, client information and more. So if you are being swayed to look at a nice and easy CMS sites, please, please call me as I may be able to provide you with some background that will help you make the decision. And save you headaches.

As the company grows so does our need to treat clients special and stay focused on their needs. Over the past 20 years I have had many clients come onboard for small projects or updates. We certainly encourage this but after so many years, we find it tough on booking larger projects. So we are more inclined to start working with clients on a monthly basis under a retainer basis. This allows usto BLOCK time out and make these clients are primary focus. Its not that we don't appreciate the smaller clients but we want to ensure that we maintain our relationships and keep active. Business changes WAY TOO MUCH as does technology so we want to ensure we are there when you need us. Retainers start around the $200 a month range and go up. Give us a chance to work with you over a few months and I think you will be blown away with the creative we can generate and the attention to you business's needs.

One last topic we run into regularly here at Eldoren; clients who have started work with another developer or designer and not had their needs met. Clients come confused, upset and outright mad at times. We don't run them or attack the other competitors. But we are up front about making a change. April is here and both things are humming along. A busy, cold and snowy winter kept us locked up in our dungeons creating products for clients on a daily basis. And April is half way complete and we are excited about the rest of 2009. Recession? what recesssion? We are going 500 mph, juiced on rocket fuel and having a blast. In fact we are expanding our company and going to create a giant. Watch us...

So whats been happening? In early 2009 we talked about splitting our time between graphic design, innovative marketing and web design. And thats exactly how things have panned out.We are now working with 3-4 companies on developing aggressive marketing programs as well as launching 3-4 websites a month. Our award winning graphic design services at the EnCana Events Centre continues and new posters, website announcments are posted weekly. Yaaa...last post of the year! Well this past month or so we launched a bunch more web sites. Below is the new Footprint Management Website that we created for Judy Kucharuk and Jennifer Singer. These ladies were awesome to work with and I highly recommend any company looking to improve their "footprint" on our world....call these folks, they are professionals.

Working in conjunction with Digital West (Jeremy MacDonald) we launched the AJ Sports website. These guys are located in the basement below Casual Concepts on 102nd ave in Dawson Creek and sell a variety of sporting goods, sledding goodies and lots of hockey gear.

Well, the end of the year is almost upon us once again. And what a busy year its been. The Eldoren team has been busy generating new web sites, new flash presentations and every print product conceivable to man. One big change coming this month is our work at Lake View Credit Union. Lake View is cutting back its marketing department and our work with this client will finish up around the middle of this month. We have had a lot of fun and left quite a legacy ( 2 national awards for marketing and special mention on the BC Government Website).

Another exciting month working on a whole bunch of different projects. This past Friday night I attended the Finger Eleven concert and shot pictures for the Meet & Greet with the band. This was very cool and then I got to shoot the band photos for the EnCana Events Centre. The band was incredible and the music loud and hardcore. The guitar and singing really was phenominal. Shooting with a whole bunch of monster strobes going off was wild...and challenging.

This past few weeks we have been setting up ecommerce for 2 clients and working on everything from posters to websites. Every project is diffrent and that helps fuel the creativity.

Lastly, had fun creating a really neat poster for Jann Arden (coming Dec 13th, 2008 to the EnCana Events Centre. Check it out below...

The poster above is what I created for the upcoming Jann Arden concert on Dec 13th, 2008. The image of Jann against the brick was NOT taken by me but that was all I was provided. So I created the artwork around her and ended up with this poster. I love building concert posters and most of my work starts at 11 x 17 inches and goes up to 4' x 6'. Enjoy!

The intensity of the band Finger Eleven was mind boggling...these guys jumped, vaulted, swung their guitars for close to 2 hours with no break. I have to hand it to them...they define how to rock. Probably one of the best concerts I have attended in 40+ years.

Where does the time go? This past few months over the summer and now into mid fall have kept the creative team busy at Eldoren. Here are a few highlights:

Oh I should mention our team has always been motivated by music...this week we are listening to Led Zeppelin, ACDC, the Gossip Girl first season soundtrack, ambient music from Cryosleep, the Offspring and Alice Cooper (Billion Dollar Babies album)

Well has been a few weeks since my last update. Things have been crazy here with a number of high profile projects on the go. Our team has created dozens of new printed products for the local Encana Events Centre. They include:

In addition to the above, we have created custom websites (including the temporary website http://www.dawsoncreekeventscentre.com and http://www.faceofffever.com ). A new 50+ page website will be created for the EnCana Events Centre and launched live in late August 2008.

One of the areas that we have had the most fun is in the creation of the custom posters for the upcoming Randy Travis Concert, the Randy Bachman/Burton Cummings concert and The Beach Boys concert. Also built some cool posters for the Face Off Fever 4 game Hockey Series coming in late August.

As many are aware, Eldoren Consulting provides marketing, creative graphic design services and web development services to Lake View Credit Union in Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, and Tumbler Ridge. Over the past few months we have cranked out a lot of creative materials. They include:

Many people don't know that we have consulted to companies all over the US ( even though we are British Columbia based) and provide startup advice, marketing services, business strategy and planning and much more. MACU Update: - As indicated a few weeks ago, we received an AIM Award (Award in Marketing) from the Marketing Association of Credit Unions Canada. This award was for Print media in Division 1 (Division 1 are credit unions under $200 million in assets. Specifically this award was for the Larry The Dog ads that we ran this past year. Why did we get the award? Read on....

Much of the work we do at Eldoren is very innovative, pushes the envelope and frightens a few. I personally designed the Larry The Dog ads to get people laughing and to point out that the staff at Lake View Credit Union are fun people, people who can laugh at themselves and staff who care. As Lake View's contract Marketing Manager, its my job to present information in a manner that makes people think. For instance I imagined a person who is resistant to using a drive through might find it funny to see a dog driving into the aprking lot at Lake View. Even better yet was the idea that a credit union dog going down the street and biteing a banker. And so the Larry ads were born. And judges and marketing professionals across Canada reviewed the creative and gave us the award. We are humbled, and very pleased. We work hard for our clients and getting the award makes it all worthwhile.

Monster TrucksEldoren Design's team was recently hired to develop a new website for the EnCana Events Centre. This new site is underway and will be launched shortly. Working with partner Jeremy MacDonald of DigitalWest, we plan on launching a very cool flash enabled site. Expect something near the end of June. We have created a single image (above) for a placeholder.

MACUlogoAn unexpected but welcome gift. Eldoren Consulting's work at Lake View Credit Union was recently submitted to the Marketing Association Of Credit Union's annual Awards in Marketing Excellence (AIME). This past week we were notified that we had indeed won an award and will be attending Whistler, BC ( The Fairmont Chateau Whistler ) to attend the MACU conference and AIME award gala dinner. Needless to say we are excited, blown away, nervous and most of all...humbled by this experience. More details to come!

We are building websites for some vending companies, a coffee shop / restaurant, an automotive dealer and an events centre. On the marketing plan side of things, we have been getting lots of work lately developing marketing plans and large website roll outs. Rather than spend a big chunk of money and hope they get the right website, our management team sits down and develops a well thought out, written plan to help clients meet their short and long term goals.

Another area we have been busy in is corporate logo / brand development. Since the early 1990's we have developed brands and identity for companies in 20 different industries. These include healthcare, finance, building trades, social and youth oriented projects, "green" sustainability projects and more.

What Are We Reading Right Now? - The FOUR HOUR WORK WEEK by Tim Ferriss. Very interesting book...highly recommend!

Our Multimedia services have attracted lots of interest as well lately. We developed a number of digital presentations with partner Jeremy MacDonald for the Lake View Credit Union. Our project work included project planning / storyboarding, assembly of assets and copy, followed up with Flash programming, SWF to Video and the DVD ( Using Adobe Encore DVD.

When we are not building sites, multimedia or marketing plans, I have been busy painting acrylics and watercolors. Recently I was interviewed for a documentary that will be aired on StarChoice satellite and video was shot of many of my new paintings.

Digital Photography - This past 4 months we have been hired by a number of clients to photograph products and locations for web sites and printed brochures. We provide both the photography services as well as the editing and final output. Contact us today for additional information.

Wow....its been a while since we updated! Business this past few months has been insane. So here's a quick recap of what we have been up to at ECI.

md-nbcwgIn February 2008, the City of Dawson Creek will be hosting the Northern BC Winter Games. Eldoren's design team was approached to develop a new website that reflected this great event. This site includes information on volunteering, results (once the games are underway) and much more. Keep an eye on this site as it will be updated regularly.

We are very close to launching Lawrence Meat's new website. This site will provide information on their many products and services as well as the career opportunities they offer to individuals around the globe. This site was a fun one from a design perspective as I love steak and working with pictures of food all day made it an awesome experience.md-lawrencemeats

Over the past few years we have worked closely with pipeline / construction company Horseman Energy. They recently changed thir name and acquired with some Alberta based companies to form the new company Pipeworx. This is an example of a recent corporate logo we developed for the consulting firm Ethix Consulting.

BATPGOne website that the Eldoren Team developed in the past month was the Backflow Testing site. Managed by two friend of ours (Gary Frost and Bob Bigelow), this business operates out of Prince George BC and provides a very valuable service. Ever had problems with sewer or water backup? This can cost businesses thousands. Now imagine a restaurant, dental clinic or pretty much any business that can't afford to have this happen and you can appreciate these guys. The website was great to design and we expect a number of upgrades to the site in the coming weeks.

On a completely different note - I am reading some cool books right now. One is called Made to Stick: Why Some Ideas Survive and Others Die by Chip Heath (Author), Dan Heath (Author). I just getting into it but its definitely on my list of great books.

Neat Magazines - I have been buying a couple of magazines lately that really keep my creative juices going. One is Imagine FX (dedicated to digital fantasy artwork) and the other is 2D Artist Magazine ( a digital magazine loaded with awesome tutorials and examples. I have linked the graphics to the left...worth looking at.

cdcfsj-site Well where does the time go? This past 2 months we have been very active working on a number of projects including the Child Development Center website in Fort St John, as well as a new site for Whitetail Oilfield Rentals.

We have also been very active working with a new partner, Digital West. Jeremy McDonald (CEO of Digital West) has brought many of his skills and programming / IT background to joint projects that we are working on. We have also bolstered our team of Advanced Flash programmers in the past month.

whitetail rentalsOur creative team (lead by Gordon Currie) has been busy working with the new Corel Painter X. This program is absolutely amazing. The effects and high level of detail that one can paint digitally has to be seen to be appreciated.

One area that we are promoting more and more is the wide range of services we offer. Many see us simply as a web development / graphics team. But the reality is that we provide so much more. Here are some services we provide clients that we have had a great deal of success with:

Innovation Central - Much of the work we do at Eldoren Consulting is focused on the Internet and Web Technology. Whether we market a website or build it from the ground up, we find unique approaches and innovative directions on a regular basis. Over the past 20+ years we have experiemented and always broke new ground. We study business and innovation around the globe. And from our research comes advice and concepts that are worth thousands. What we find is not everyone can afford to pay for a full blown consulting contract. In some cases they simply need just a few ideas to get them started. These ideas might range from a few simple tips on improving their search rankings or making their web site more efficient. Design Update - Over the past few weeks we have also been working closely with mySeniorSite.ca and working on developing a new brand / identity for their business. mySeniorSite is a large website located on Vancouver Island that caters to 55 & Better seniors. This site provides a wealth of information and our the owner (Tom Armet) is really dedicated to making this site the #1 portal for seniors.

The new logo reflects the vibrancy and energy that 55+ adults have. The blues and orange are complementary colors that supported the sail design. Sweeping angles and color help represent this site.
